Mothers join Nigeria #ENDSARS protest, asks govt to end SARS and Police Brutality

A crowd of Mothers has joined the #ENDSARS protest. A video recorded by an eyewitness showed women in an unidentified part of Lagos marching on the street with different placards showing their dismay at the state of security in the country.

The #ENDSARS protest which began on Thursday aims to put an end to police brutality across the country. Nigerians across the country are calling for the disbandment of a unit of the police force known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) that are notorious for extortion, violence, and murder.

In recent times, reports of victims of the SARS unit have increased leading to many young people expressing fear for their lives from the police. The Nigerian tech community is one of the most exposed industries given that the majority of people who work there are young people.

Following the declaration of protest led by notable entertainment personalities, Nigerians living in the diaspora are also mobilising to storm the Nigerian Embassies in their respective countries. There are also protests ongoing across different states in the country.
