 IPOB Reacts As Former Information Minister, Haruna Tells Buhari Not To Release Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reacted to a statement by a former Federal Commissioner of Information, Gen. Bata Haruna's statement that Nnamdi Kanu should not be released. 

IPOB described the statement as "laughable" and the ex-army general as worse than a terrorist. 

General Haruna (rtd) in an interview with Trust TV recently cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against considering releasing the IPOB leader. 

But in his reaction through a statement made available to SaharaReporters on Friday by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group said Haruna belongs to a bunch of hypocrites for not speaking against the terrorists and bandits killing innocent people in the North. 

It read in part, "Our attention has been drawn to the ranting and laughable statement credited to one inconsequential and unscrupulous element from Fulani stock, General Ibrahim Bata Malgwi Haruna, former quota Minister of Information. 

"The quota minister said that Mazi Nnamdi KANU should not be released unconditionally. 

"This hypocritical position has further confirmed the obvious that the Fulani-controlled Northern Nigeria lives in self-denial. The same people applauding the release of real terrorists and mass murderers under the guise of repentant terrorists are the ones opposed to the release of a freedom seeker. What hypocrisy!

"This quota General who has never uttered a word against his kinsmen slaughtering innocent citizens including security agents though mostly of Southern extraction without provocation is now championing the persecution of a man seeking justice for his oppressed people. 

"This quota General Haruna has only revealed his true identity and those he is working for and as terrorists, he is shame on you. We want to give you little attention and popularity so the public will understand who you are. 

"Any man advocating the persecution of a freedom fighter but keeps mum when real terrorists and mass murderers are freed and compensated is worse than a terrorist. 

"All those who advocate amnesty for Fulani bandits and terrorists but want Nnamdi Kanu and other self-determination agitators crucified are evil and the real enemies of Nigeria and they destroy the country so quickly and IPOB is joining them to destroy the country because we are not one. 

"These bunch of hypocrites stand aloof as Boko Haram, ISWAP, Fulani bandits, Fulani terrorists, herdsmen and Ansaru terrorist group take over many communities in the North. 

"Not only that they invade these ancestral communities in Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Benue and Taraba states without provocation, they rename them Fulani communities after sacking the original inhabitants. 

"Yet these devil advocates claiming to be quota minister of Nigeria say nothing. But when it's Nnamdi Kanu, they open their dirty mouth and call for his head.

"Nnamdi Kanu has not committed any crime. He is only agitating for self-determination and calling for a Referendum. These Fulani ethnic bigots calling for his head are only bitter because Kanu, IPOB and ESN (Eastern Security Network) prevented them from taking over Igbo land as they have done to other tribes. Igboland and Biafrans cannot be subjugated by Fulani no matter how hard they try."
