Political Pride, A Key Buhari's Impediment Over Kanu's Case - Prof. Emmanuel Uzoma

With the refusal of Muhammad Buhari's body-double president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to release the leader of the indegeous people of Biafra(IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally as demanded by IPOB and pleaded by Igbo elders and clergies, Prof. Emmanuel Uzoma openly reacted, described the Mr. President's attitude as being a product of "political pride and military mindset".

Recall that Kanu has been in the detention of Nigeria Department Of State Services(DSS) since he was abducted and illegally renditioned from Kenya by the Nigeria government and her Kenyan counterparts. The case has continually been adjourned without hearing, and Kanu remains burtallized by the DSS, refusing to obey court order to transfer Kanu from DSS detention to correctional center.

This illusions prompted Igbo elders and clergies to solicit for Kanu's release since the federal government of Nigeria have no case against the IPOB Leader. However, these Igbo elders and Clegies never imagined the Mr. President's chamaeleon approach on their discussion after they reached an agreement that he(Buhari) would consider these Igbo respectables' plea and allow political solution on the Knau's matter. This unaccepted outcome infuriated some mix reactions among the Igbo elders, elites and Clergies. How could Mr. President say without mimicking words on Wednesday, 4th January, 2022 Channel Television interview, that "Nigerians knows he would not interfere with the affairs of the judiciary and for that reason, there will be no political solution to the IPOB Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu". Saying that the IPOB Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu cannot be released, but will face the music in court. Why?

In clear explanation of Prof. Emmanuel Uzoma's  view on Kanu's case with Nigeria, the Nigeria President is struggling with political pride, entangled with military mindset on Kanu's case because he(Buhari) knows that Kanu has no case to answer in Nigeria court.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu committed no crime other than excercing his  right of self - determination as rightly stated in the United Nation's charter, which Nigeria is a signatory to. Self - determination is not a crime. It is a right of every human everywhere in the world, including Nigeria. Therefore, Mr. President should not hide under the claim that Mazi Kanu on Radio Biafra, often speaks ill of the All Progressive Congress(APC)'s government and her President and that IPOB agaitation causes security problem in the country especially in South East. This is not an excuse in the law for detaining Kanu in DSS dungeon with heavy tourture and confiment, which are violations on Kanu's human rights.

As opined by Prof. Emmanuel Uzoma, Mr. President attitude and refusal to release Kanu is  a clear show of political pride, which mindset, is quite unfortunate for a president to have. Mr  President should know that everything is not about politics, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's case is a very delicate one and should be handled with utmost care.

Buhari should also  be  reminded that one day, he will leave the office he occupies now and his pride will be followed with downfall because, IPOB the world will hold him responsible for all the killings his regime have done in Biafraland.
