Biafra: IPOB plans rallies in Liverpool’s stadium Anfield, other UK cities

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is planning mega rallies in the United Kingdom cities for the restoration of Biafra and demanding the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu who is in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Recall That the United Nations issued directives that the matter of the arrest and extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya in 2021 and indicted both Nigeria and Kenya for Kanu’s unlawful arrest and rendition.

The United Nations, through the UN Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, indicted both Nigeria and Kenya Governments for the arrest and extraordinary rendition, torture and continued detention of Kanu without due process.

UN demanded that Nnamdi Kanu be unconditionally released and compensation paid to him for the arbitrary violation of his fundamental human rights.

According to the information being circulated on social media on Friday, IPOB will stage three rallies in three UK cities which are Milton Keynes, Leicester and Liverpool on August 27, September 10 and October 16, 2022 respectively.

In the e-flier titled “IPOB UK Summer Mega Rallies’, the October rally will hold at Premier League club, Liverpool’s stadium, Anfield before their match against Manchester City.

Kanu’s lawyers Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Aloy Ejimakor confirmed the story to Vanguard. Ejiofor said, “Confirmed. It’s correct.”

Ejimakor said, “Rallies like this have escalated across Europe and North America since the extraordinary rendition of Nnamdi Kanu. There was one like this in Brussels a few weeks ago and it drew thousands. The frequency of these rallies is a testimony to the determination of a people to the immediate task of releasing Kanu from detention. I think the world has taken notice”.

IPOB has been demanding that the Nigerian government should conduct a referendum to let the Eastern residents have a sovereign nation of Biafra, and recently the call for the unconditional release of Kanu has been added to the agitation.
