Côte d'Ivoire is a West African country with beach resorts, rainforests and a French-colonial legacy. Abidjan, on the Atlantic coast, is the country’s major urban centre. Its modern landmarks include zigguratlike, concrete La Pyramide and St. Paul's Cathedral, a swooping structure tethered to a massive cross. North of the central business district, Banco National Park is a rainforest preserve with hiking trails.


The Capital of Côte d'ivoire is Yamoussoukro and Côte d'ivoir Currency is West African CFA franc. The Population of Côte d'ivoire is 26.38 million (2020) World Bank.  The Head Of State of Côte d'ivoire is President Alassane Ouattara and the acting prime minister is Mr. Patrick Achi.

Félix Houphouët-Boigny (1905-93) was the first president of Côte d'Ivoire. Félix Houphouët-Boigny affectionately called Papa Houphouët or Le Vieux ("The Old One"), was the first president of Côte d'ivoire, serving from 1960 until his death in 1993. A tribal chief, he worked as a medical aide, union leader and planter before being elected to the French Parliament. He served in several ministerial positions within the French government before leading Côte d'Ivoire following independence in 1960. Throughout his life, he played a significant role in politics and the decolonization of Africa.

Papa Houphouët


Félix Houphouët-Bobigny was among the first president that Recognised Biafra, He recognised Biafra on the 14 May 1968. His kind hearted role during the well planned genocide melted on the people of Biafra in 1960/1970, has been the reason why Biafrans will never forget him.

Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu


Félix Houphouët-Bobigny granted Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu Political Asylum on 23 January 1970.


Félix Houphouët-Bobigny also secured a Zone in Abidjan which was the former capital of Côte d'ivoire for Gen. Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu and his people. The zone is suited in Treichville and it is called Le quartier de Biafra ( Biafra Zone) till Date.
