Emeka Richmond Ngornadi

Emeka Richmond Ngonadi Was Kidnapped And Disappeared By The Nigerian DSS And Military Combined Forces, And The Courts Seems To Be Condoning This Illegality

Emeka Richmond Ngornadi, a businessman has been illegally arrested and detained by the Department of State Services(DSS) since April 2021, for allegedly making comments on social media in support of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB).

Emeka, who hails from Imo State, was arrested at Ore in Ondo State, on a trip from Lagos to Anambra, to deliver baby items and goods he had bought for his pregnant wife who had earlier called to inform him that her Estimated Delivery Date(EED), was close. The DSS operatives at the time of arresting Emeka, said they have been trailing him for two years.

Unfortunately, Emeka's wife eventually gave birth in June, but lost the baby, allegedly due to the psychological trauma over the arrest of her husband.

The DSS also said they went through Emeka's call logs and discovered that he discussed with somebody about bulletproof (jacket). But Emeka denied the allegation and even told them to go and check the call logs of the person or go to the MTN office and verify. Emeka said that person who called him before the arrest, was complaining about the way soldiers were killing people on a daily basis in the South-East and that he needed spiritual protection, and asked if he(Emeka) could assist him and his family with such. However, Emeka said he replied and the caller, saying "he(Emeka) is a Christian and could not do such."

The DSS also accused Emeka of being an IPOB member for openly expressing support for Biafra agitators and condemning security agents for the killing of innocent citizens in the Eastern region of the country.

Emeka was first detained in lagos and tortured before he was transferred to Abuja DSS prison, old ech cell 2, where I met him. Emeka is having ear problems, ulcer and skin diseases due to tortures and neglects by the DSS officials.  Emeka was not given any medical attention and he was threatened to be killed if anyone outside finds out or breaks the news that he is in detention.

When the "take it back movement", through Barrister Festus Ogun file a suit at the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, demanding for the unconditional realese of Emeka, the DSS accepted that he is in their custody, but transferred Emeka to wawa barracks, a high maximum prison in Niger state.

Also Barrister Nnaemeka Ejiofor sued the Nigerian army who denied that Emeka is in their custody, but accepted working together with the DSS to enhance National security

The federal high Court, Maitama, Abuja, seems very reluctant to pronounce judgement.

The judiciary that should be the hope of the common man have become a slaughter house for the oppressed.

We call all justice loving citizens to rise in unity against the illegal detention of Emeka Richmond Ngonadi. Justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done by enforcing the fundamental human rights of this man.

Aluta continua!
