Poisoning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu In Nigerian Secret Prison; A Poor Strategy With Unimaginable Repercussion

The sad news on the poisoning of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) and a self determination activist who has been in the torture chamber of the Nigeria government’s Department of State Security(DSS), is disturbing and shocking. It is reflective of the primitive nature of Fulani hegemony, and underscores a pattern. The news surely, is indicative of how troubling the hour has become; a dangerous time that calls for sober reflection as Nigeria government has done their worse, indeed.

Moving down memory lane, the unfortunate deaths of people from Nigeria government’s sanctioned poisoning readily come to mind. People like MKO Abiola, Fela Kuti, Shehu Yar’dua, just to mention a few, were all poisoned under the watchful eyes of Nigeria government agents, and allowed to die slowly. Perhaps, it is not just the poisoning that leaves a goose bump, but the fact that the Nigeria government is the one prescribing such an agonizing and traumatizing pill makes it a very serious problem. Especially since there was no judicial verdict of guilty or legal latitude for such. It shows how a government can turn against her people when the drivers are clannish or tribal bigots and/or power drunk.

Now they have done it to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB and a prisoner of conscience, an innocent man acquitted and discharged by a judicial verdict. The United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention advised Nigeria government to free and compensate Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu has committed no offence for seeking self determination, universally allowed by Article 1 of the United Nations' Rights of Indigenous People to self determination.

As Nigeria government has proven to be an agent of darkness, it is only right to show what her fate is, according to that words of the Holy Bible which said, “Let their (the Nigerian government) table become a snare before them, and their well-being a trap. Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see, and make their loins shake continually. Pour out Your indignation upon them, and let Your wrathful anger take hold of them. Let their dwelling place be desolate; let no one live in their tents.” (Ps. 69:22–25).

The whole world will bear witness that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu committed no offence known to law. He went and defeated them in their own court, the court ordered that he should be released unconditionally, but Nigeria government blatantly refused the court order. As of January 27, 2023, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is complaining that since second week of December 2022, he has not seen his doctor; that if he lies down whatever he ate comes out from his mouth, that his intestine are bringing odour from his mouth. He also complained of poor quality of food and irregular feeding.

From the foregoing, it should be pretty conclusive to a critical mind that Nigeria government is using systematic method to kill Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, even as the poison is doing an insidious damage. What the government has embarked on is not a good strategy to a critical thinker. It will not be good news to hear that anything happens to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Nigeria secret prison because, whatever will follow next is better left to imagination!
