Insecurity: Why Is Ohaneze Acting Like Slaves In Same Nigeria They Claim Citizens?

The Apex Igbo Sociocultural group – Ohaneze Ndị Igbo has been in the business of displaying subservient postulations and submissions in substitute to making legitimate demands from the Federal government of Nigeria on behalf of the Igbo people they(Ohaneze) supposedly represent. This begs answer to why a supposed respected entity who often arrogate and boast of its influence and outreach, always exhibits uneasiness when engaged. Thus advertently making terrible deals, tantamount to causing harm to the general well being and interests of South East region it claims to represent?

The most recent and notable of these trends are; First, the appeasing posture it takes while demanding for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, an innocent Igbo Son who has already been discharged and acquitted by a competent Court, as well as the United Nations working group who gave the opinion that he committed no crime and therefore should be released and compensated. Second is the disjointed statement of drawing down the brutal Nigerian millitary and sister security agencies to combat the artificial insecurity covertly sponsored by state-actors to score key politicial and economic goals in the region.

This is not the first time the Ohaneze has engaged in such a voyage of reckless actions that only leaves innocent indigenes of the SouthEast  victims. Recall that the Ohaneze in collaboration with the 2015 - 2022 set of South East Governors, were instrumental in introducing the unwarranted and codenamed millitary Operations - "Python Dance 1,2, 3 and Crocodile Smile" Which left thousands of innocent people mostly youths and Pro-Biafra protesters dead, with many others languishing in different prisons for years without being charged to court by security agencies. The scars of the injuries inflicted on Igbo during those horror campaigns has not yet healed as there is no accountability whatsoever. This is also in sharp contrast to their Northern Counterparts who readily defends the murdering and pillaging activities of various widely recognized terrorist groups within their realm, even when these murderous activities are being perpetrated outside the Northern region. They steadily justify their actions and boldly argues to entrench their interest into the mainstream space irrespective of the anguish of their victims.

So, Why would an organization which claims to be a mouthpiece of the people, turn around to backstab and betray those it is oblige to defend? What could be the incentive behind the betrayal to the defense of one's Homeland?

It is important to note, that the South East has no iota of terror tendencies not culturally nor historically. And while there are aggrieved agitators, most prominent being The Indeginous people of Biafra (IPOB) which its approach and methods towards self-determination are totally non-violent, demand for a democratic means of referendum to decide if they wish to continue in the almagamated union.

Therefore, The Ohaneze and likes should desist from self-sabotage, gullibility and genuinely defend its people and interests as all nations, countries, ethnicities, tribes around the world jealously do, The path towards lasting peace in Nigeria is first, the unadulterated administration of justice and that should be the focal point of the Ohaneze group — to pursue justice for its century long downtrodden people, not continuing to shiver and worship the oppressors of their people, even when they claim to be fully part of the Nigeria system.
