Release Nnamdi Kanu, even if it lacks legal justification – Actor Bishop Umoh urges Tinubu administration

Renowned Nollywood actor, Ime Bishop Umoh, also known as Okon Lagos, has urged the Federal Government to free the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

He made this appeal during a recent episode of The Clarity Zone podcast, stressing that the release of the IPOB leader is essential for peace and national reconciliation, regardless of its legal implications.

Umoh argued that granting Kanu a pardon would be the morally correct action, asserting that the IPOB leader’s push for Biafra’s independence was driven by emotional responses to the perceived marginalization of the Igbo people in Nigeria.

“I firmly believe that Nnamdi Kanu should be released. Free him. It may not align with legal reasoning based on the allegations and the evidence presented regarding the ‘crimes’ he is accused of.

“Releasing Kanu does not have to conform to legal standards, but it certainly aligns with moral reasoning,” Umoh stated.

His podcast guest, Nedu Wazobia, inquired: “What do you mean by it aligns with moral reasoning?”

Umoh responded: “It is the morally correct choice. Naturally, he is a human being who made emotional choices, and such decisions are often flawed. He believed his people were being marginalized, which led him to advocate for Biafra’s independence.
