ESN: The Shield, The Sword, The Savior
Good morning from Biafraland to all Biafrans, well-wishers, and lovers of freedom!
Today, 12 December 2025, marks the 5th anniversary of the birth of arguably the most resilient, underfunded, yet effective security apparatus on the African continent—the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Launched on 12 December 2020 by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the now-incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the ESN emerged after years of Fulani killer herdsmen rampages and terrorism in Nigeria, particularly in the Eastern region, met with deafening silence and evident complicity from the Nigerian state and its security agencies. This has now been confirmed not only by numerous non-governmental human rights organizations but, most recently, by the United States.
Commendably, the Trump administration, after thorough investigations and fact-finding missions in Nigeria, has zeroed in on an active Islamization agenda against Christian populations, coupled with ethnic expulsion. These Christian victims are being forcibly evicted from their ancestral homes, murdered en masse, and replaced by international terrorists who rename and occupy these lands in perpetuity.
Fortunately, the dire fate that has befallen Christians and indigenous populations in the North and Middle Belt; with immense loss of life and property, has been mitigated to the barest minimum in Biafraland (the Nigerian Eastern region) by the protective activities of the ESN. This explains why the Eastern region has become largely immune to the Fulani menace, more than any other part of Nigeria, despite the ongoing ethnic cleansing and religious genocide elsewhere.
What is truly incredible is that these officers, inspired by the farsighted vision of the IPOB movement and its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, volunteered in the spirit of Japanese Kamikaze warriors to defend the region. They go into battle bearing no charge but risking the ultimate cost; their precious lives and comfort. They fight for the unknown, for a future that is certain in their conviction, driven by discipline, duty, and sacrifice to protect the defenseless against international marauding murderers armed with sophisticated munitions and sponsors.
We must highlight that the ESN, solely dedicated to combating international terrorism in the Eastern region, has faced sabotage, targeted attacks, and state-sponsored blackmail aimed at derailing and demoralizing its passionate spirit, or even turning the very people it defends against it. Yet, these men and women of goodwill and compassion have remained true to their conviction and covenant.
The ESN has proven to Nigeria's indigenous peoples that resistance to Islamic terrorism is possible through locally sourced mechanisms, resilience, patriotic duty, and coordinated leadership. It stands as a towering beacon for self-preservation.
The ESN has also shown the international community that Africans can defend themselves without constant begging, pity, or babysitting from the global coalition against terrorism.
Most importantly, the ESN has demonstrated to the citizens of the Eastern region that its volunteers act in their interests and defense, resiliently paying the ultimate price, bearing scars, enduring humiliation and incarceration, and braving harsh weather. They deserve unalloyed support, prayers, and encouragement for sustaining relative peace in the Eastern region amid Nigeria's chaos.
The ESN now needs more support to enhance its seamless campaign defending the region against enemies of Christians, indigenous peoples, and peace in Nigeria and West Africa.
History and posterity will be kind to these unmatched volunteers who devoted their lives and comfort in service to the majority.
Bravo, ESN!
