IPOB's Christmas Security Promise And Government's False Flag Operations In Southeast Nigeria
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued assurances regarding security guarantees in Nigeria's Southeast region during this year's 2025 Christmas season and beyond, while also calling on Ndị Igbo far and near to consider traveling back home for the festive season and investing in the region to boost economic growth and development.
IPOB, through her media spokesperson, Emma Powerful, has historically made pronouncements during major holiday periods, such as Christmas, Easter, New yam festival periods, 30th May Biafra Heroes Remembrance Day, etc regarding security in the Southeast. IPOB typically assures the public that its affiliated security apparatus, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), will ensure peace and safety for residents and visitors during festive periods.
These assurances are part of IPOB's broader duty, dedication and determination to stand in the gap as a protective force for the Igbo people and other Southeast residents, challenging the Nigerian state's sponsored insecurity in the region.
The Christmas season holds particular significance in the predominantly Christian Southeast, with millions traveling home for celebrations. IPOB's security promises aim to reassure the diaspora community and local residents that the region remains safe despite ongoing state false flag security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, Fulani terrorism and armed violence that have plagued parts of the region in recent years.
Nigerian Government's Plot Of Using False Flag Operations To Destabilize Southeast
IPOB Intelligence Service has intercepted plans by the Nigerian government and security forces in conjunction with some politicians from the Southeast region of planning to carry out attacks disguised as IPOB operations to discredit the security pledge and justify increased military presence in the Southeast during this festive period. These false flag operations are not new but has been a recurring plot twist unleashed in the region by the Nigerian security agencies particularly during festive periods to sow fear, manufacture narratives of insecurity and tension in the region.
According to IPOB's intelligence, such orchestrated attacks serve multiple purposes for the government: justifying military crackdowns on Igbo youths and other residents, turning public opinion against IPOB movement, disrupting and discrediting the relative peace IPOB works so hard to maintain in the region especially during this festive season.
The Southeast has experienced various state sponsored and non-state sponsored security incidents in recent years, including Fulani Terrorism, military attacks and burning of individual homes, community markets, military crackdowns; abductions and disappearance of Southeast youths, kidnapping for ransom, organ harvesting, arm robberies, car snatching and exploitations at illegal checkpoints across the Southeast region.
For ordinary residents of the Southeast, navigating this complex security landscape during this Christmas season becomes a difficult task and disappointing experience given the Nigerian government's failures at providing security across the country, with particular emphasis on their complicity to creating safe havens for insecurity in Southeast. However, following IPOB's timely intervention by assuring to beef up security in the region, Ndị Igbo, Southeast residents and visitors are motivated to feel safe to come back home for Christmas.
In the Southeast, the Christmas season, traditionally is a time of peace, family reunion and celebration. This season serves as a reminder of what is at stake in the Southeast: the safety and wellbeing of millions of Ndị Igbo who simply want to live their lives, celebrate with their families, and pursue their aspirations without fear.
Therefore, the protection and safety of millions of Ndị Igbo who reside and travel to-and-fro the Southeast region remains a top priority for IPOB. Even when Nigerian security agencies fail to provide safe enabling environment in the region, the duty and goal of IPOB remains ensuring that this fundamental right to peace and security of the Igbo nation and other Biafran territories is guaranteed and realized.
