IPOB UK Officers Swear New Oath of Allegiance in Emergency Meeting

Cabinet officers and coordinators of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) UK chapter took turns administering a new Oath of Allegiance and affirming a new Pledge during an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

These affirmations started on Saturday, August 8, and continued on Sunday, August 9, at various zonal meetings across the United Kingdom.

The IPOB UK National Coordinator has directed that the new oath must be completed for all members of the UK family by the end of August 2026.

This development aligns with broader internal measures recently announced by IPOB’s Directorate of State. In early August 2026, the DOS approved a new Institutional Membership Oath of Allegiance, a new Biafran Pledge, and a new constitution for the global IPOB family. These replace earlier documents, including a membership oath dating to July 2018 and a code of conduct from June 2020, as part of what the group has described as an institutionalization process.

The new oath, according to related resolutions, centers on allegiance to IPOB under the DOS, the Biafran people, the new constitutional order, core foundational principles of the movement, and upholding truth and a moral code. IPOB has emphasized a single worldwide oath, with warnings against secondary pledges to external factions.

IPOB advocates for the independence of a Biafran state. The UK chapter’s mandate for full administration of the new oath by month’s end reflects ongoing efforts within diaspora structures to align with the updated internal framework amid the IPOB’s recent leadership and organizational adjustments.
