The Nigeria Biased Media And Their Inglorious Culture Of Concocting Falsehood Against IPOB

The failure of truth and justice in Nigeria is a problem whose root cause can be convincingly traced to the incompetence of the Nigerian News and Media Houses owned by both the government and private entrepreneurs. The Nigerian journalism is one good example of self-centered profession, amongst other identifiable deficient prevalent in the country. This is one profession that is practiced with unhindered tribal and political inclination. In Nigeria, same news are reported differently because it has to curry favour to some people and disfavor to others. Such important values of journalism as keeping to genuine standards and good reputations are long being forgotten or jettisoned in the Nigeria media.

The reports below  clearly depict the extent of subversion that shamelessly dot the Nigeria media.

The likes of Punch Newspapers and Sahara Reporters are leaders in this folly. First, there was a report on Sunday, 7th  February 2021, concerning a mobile policeman that was killed by unknown gunmen at Warri, Delta State. The report had it that the unknown gunmen also made away with the officer's riffle. Punch Newspapers and Sahara Reporters clearly reported without ambiguity that these gunmen were unknown. They both acknowledged the fact that this confirmation was made by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Onome Onovwakpoyeya. This officer was also quoted to have said that efforts were ongoing to ensure the arrest of the culprits.

The same applied to another kidnap case at Taraba State. Unknown gunmen likewise, were said to have kidnapped the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Peter Jediel. He was said to have been abducted at his home in Sunkani, Headquarters of ArdoKola Local Government Area of the State, by 12:30am of the same Sunday 7th February, 2021. This one was confirmed by the man's brother. Punch Newspapers and Sahara Reporters also presented the news exactly as it was reported.

Now, the difference comes when it got to the South-East region. Same report was made of gunmen attacking a police station in Imo and Ebonyi States respectively. But these gullible media outlets, clearly and consciously omitted the fact that the attackers were unknown. They quickly jumped into publication that the perpetrators were members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), even when investigations were not carried out nor anybody reportedly caught at the crime scene. This has been their usual way of reporting news whenever they have the opportunity to blackmail the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The shock of this prejudice has sometime ago, impelled Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader, to argue that Nigerian journalists can possibly report the goodness of the devil, if you pay them.

This whole thing have grown so unabatedly much that Punch Newspapers, Sahara Reporters and their cohorts need to clarify the public on what their grievances with IPOB really are. They need to give an answer to why they hardly report the attrocities of Fulani killer herdsmen in Biafraland, but never hesitate to accuse IPOB of anything that goes wrong in the South-East region.

This in my opinion, is one thing that these media houses have to do now than pretentiously be hiding under the ruling Fulani government of Nigeria, while really inventing/peddling falsehood.
