 70 percent of unknown gunmen who attacked Imo not Igbo

Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma claims that 70% of the gunmen who attacked the state are not Igbo.

He said that over 400 people were arrested and charged in court for causing havoc in the state.

Security installations in the county, including the police headquarters and the correctional center in Owerri, the state capital, had been targeted by gunmen.

Uzodinma said in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, that the majority of the suspects are not of Igbo descent. “Over 400 of those who carried out the threats on the state in the past have been arrested,” he said.

“The good thing is that over 70 percent of them are not Igbo. We will crush anybody that attempts to cause mayhem or attack Imo people again. “Government cannot surrender to blackmailers, hoodlums, and perpetrators of violence.”

“What happened in the past weeks will never repeat itself again,” he added.
