Self determination: Agitators shutdown Akure in demands of Yoruba Nation

Hundreds of agitators have arrived in Akure, Ondo State to demand Yoruba nation.

The agitators held a rally in the state capital, Akure, displaying banners showing their demand.

Masquerades also joined the agitators during the protest.

A spokesman for Ilana Omo Oodua, the group coordinating the rally, Maxwell Adeleye, said, “We are in Akure to demand Yoruba Nation. We want a Yoruba nation and we are ready to gain that peacefully.

“We are tired of the oppression. we are saying that there is nothing to restructure again in Nigeria.”

When asked why the rally is holding in Akure despite Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s opposition to Yoruba nation, Adeleye said, “Akeredolu is not against us. This is a Yorbua matter. He is an omoluabi per excellence. He is the first governor to summon the courage that Oduduwa anthem should be adopted in all schools in Ondo State.”

He assured that the rally would not lead to violence, adding that “We stand for the peaceful dissolution of Nigeria. Norway, Denmark, Finland separated peacefully. Iceland separated peacefully. Any violent person during our rallies is a mole planted among us.

“We shall peacefully, logically, and intellectually achieve our independence without violence, bloodshed.”
