FG Continues To Detain Nnamdi Kanu Because He is Igbo—Malcolm Omirhobo

A Nigerian human rights lawyer, Malcolm Omirhobo has joined his voice with several courts of competent jurisdiction, United Nations, and all men of good conscience to condemn the Federal government of Nigeria for continuing to unjustly detain Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, supreme leader of the Indigenious People Of Biafra(IPOB).

Kanu's detention has been a human rights issue that the Nigeria government and some collaborating international communities have tried vainly to sweep under the carpet, but the IPOB which Kanu leads have smartly refused to fall for all the several traps set by the government to enable accomplishment of this ugly intention.

Recall that Federal government had abducted Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya, and illegally renditioned him to Nigeria on some criminal allegations which aversely, the Nigeria own Appellate Court has described as baseless, and proclaimed Kanu "discharged and acquitted" on 13th October 2022. However, Federal government have still continued to hold Kanu in contravention of the Appellate Court order, and others.

This single government agenda of criminalising the activities of IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu has also led to serious unrests and politically sponsored criminalities in the present day Nigerian South-East region, all in attempt to wrongly convince humanity that Kanu and IPOB are indeed criminals. But the agenda has continued to fail as no one has been able to factually associate Kanu and his IPOB to any criminal activities.

Nevertheless, the Federal government of Nigeria still keeps the IPOB leader illegal detained under serious inhuman conditions for no just reasons. This injustice has caused Omirhobo to tackle the Federal Government as the human rights lawyer tends to clarify that the government is originally detaining Kanu for his guts and for being Igbo, since there is no legal basis for his detention

The very loud statement of reason is contained in a post via his twitter handle, @malcolmInfiniti on Thursday, 20th. April 2023.

According to the tweet, he says “I may not be a fan of Nnamdi Kanu and his approach to the actualisation of Biafra cuts no ice with me. But then, I believe in the rule of law and dare I say that the FGN has no basis for the continued detention of Kanu just because he is an Igbo man and it hates his guts.”

In all honesty, there is really not a better time than now, for the international communities to rise up for true human rights, as injustice to one is injustice to all.
