Nigeria, If You Are Sure Kanu Committed Crimes, Why Were You Agnostically Amending Charges?

The recent adjournment of the supreme court hearing of Nnamdi Kanu's case to September 14th 2023, has sparked so many reactions as to why the Federal Government Have chosen to remain so lawless in matters relating to the embattled Supreme leader of the Indigenious People Of Biafra(IPOB).

According to Chief Mike Ozekhome(SAN), the lead council to Kanu who spoke to newsmen in dismay following the delay tactics and irrational decision of Nigeria government and its supreme court on not letting Mazi Nnamdi Kanu out of the dungeon of the Department of State Services(DSS), it is unfair to have continue delaying the judgement.

"This trial started on December 2015, they went from 4 counts to 7 counts to 15 counts, amendments, they did 7 amendments in all. If you are sure a person had committed any crime, why were you engaging in 7 amendments".

Sir Ozekhome further narrated all the amended charges were all quashed and Kanu declared free.

"And of course, after the last 15 counts amendment, I went after their juggler and the Federal High Court struck out 8 of the 15 counts based on our preliminary objection. We took the remaining 7 counts to the Abuja Federal Court Of Appeal, and on the 13th of October 2022, the Appellate Court struck out the remaining 7 counts and further ordered that Nnamdi Kanu was discharged and that he should never again be detained, should never again be tried on those offences of which he was standing trial before his brutal, excruciating and torturous extra ordinary rendition", he concluded.

What is crystally clear in this case of the IPOB leader is that there is a deliberate denial of justice for the innocent man whose only crime is that he called for the freedom of his oppressed people.

Nigeria has no case against Nnamdi Kanu. The fruitless efforts they made with all their numerous case amendments is to try make up one, but to no avail.

Nonetheless, what has remained horrifying is why the world and all men and women of good conscience have suddenly forgotten that "injustice for one is a threat to justice for all".

The geographical area called Nigeria today, houses the heart of Africa. And, according to a recent IPOB Press Release, African and World leaders should rethink and reassure themselves that they are ready to contain an unending chaos in this heart of Africa. Because Kanu holds a place of extreme importance in the hearts of millions to whom life will mean nothing should something happen to Kanu.
