Benue Bloodshed: Is This The One-Nigeria Gowon Killed Millions To Preserve?

General Yakubu Gowon supervised the killing of over 5 million Biafrans in the name of “keeping Nigeria one”, chanting slogans of unity with blood-stained hands and a smile that masked genocide. Gowon presided over starvation as a weapon of war, watched children with bloated stomachs gasp for life, and called it a “necessary sacrifice.” Now, the same land he claimed to unite is soaked once again in innocent blood, this time in Benue State. And what do we hear from him? Silence. Not even a whisper.

Gowon, are you seeing what Nigeria has become?

The monster you helped build is now feasting on its own. Benue cries, but you father of the “One-Nigeria” gospel have no tears left to shed? Or perhaps the tears were only meant for those on your favored side of the map.

When Mazi Nnamdi Kanu raised alarm about this very path of destruction, when he called out the systemic bloodletting and warned of creeping annihilation, you called him a troublemaker, a preacher of hate, a threat to your one, undivided graveyard. Today, his words echo through the valleys of Benue, written not in ink but in the blood of the forgotten.

Do you sleep well, sir? Do the ghosts of Asaba, of Owerri, of Enugu, and now Makurdi not haunt you?

What kind of unity is this, where life has no value, and the dead are remembered only by hashtags?

Nigeria is not united, General Gowon. It is bleeding. It is suffocating. And your silence now is louder than any speech you ever gave.

To the people of Benue State we see you. We mourn with you. May the souls of the fallen find the justice this nation has long abandoned. Rest in peace.

And to Gowon and the architects of Biafran genocide, how market now!
