Soludo Allegedly Collaborating with Outsiders Against Igbo Interests – Group Claims
The World Igbo National Union (WINU) has taken aim at Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, accusing him of collaborating with external political entities to the detriment of the Igbo people.
In a statement, the group urged Governor Soludo to reconsider his “misguided stance” and prioritize the welfare of Igbo communities instead of seeking political gains.
During a recent town hall meeting with Anambra residents in the United States, Soludo asserted that 99.99 percent of criminals apprehended in Anambra were Igbo, and claimed that armed groups unlawfully occupying local forests were also of Igbo descent.
WINU condemned the governor’s remarks, with Publicity Secretary Comrade Ifeanyi Uwakwa demanding that Soludo present evidence to back his assertions.
“It is shocking that the governor would choose to deliver such unfounded and exaggerated claims about armed criminals in our forests while abroad,” the group stated. “He made this claim with no supporting evidence, which is irresponsible and unbecoming of someone in his position.”
The group has called on the governor to either provide substantiation for his claims made in the USA or to issue a public apology for what they labeled as insensitive and reckless remarks aimed at placating his political benefactors, including Fulani herdsmen and other questionable figures in Nigeria.
Further emphasizing their position, WINU pointed to foreign and domestic reports that highlight the involvement of armed Fulani herdsmen, equipped with advanced weaponry, engaging in attacks against farmers and communities. The group alleged that these herdsmen are trying to establish a presence in Igbo territories.
“Governor Soludo’s statements lack foundation. We recommend he undertake a comprehensive investigation into these allegations. His claims should be supported by verifiable technologies,” they continued.
In a final note, WINU encouraged Governor Soludo to emulate the approach of his counterpart in Abia State by implementing a stringent policy against armed groups that threaten the safety of their communities
The people of Anambra State have clearly voiced their rejection of any proposals for RUGA settlements. It is essential for Governor Soludo to reconsider this misguided position, focusing on the safety of our communities rather than pursuing political gains.
“We strongly encourage Governor Soludo to prioritize the desires of the Igbo people over the interests of outside political influences,” stated the group.
WINU pointed out that the real sources of insecurity in Anambra State often stem from political militant groups associated with Governor Soludo, such as Ndi Aka Odo and Ndi Udo Ga Chi, alongside the violent actions of Fulani herdsmen who are wreaking havoc on the properties and lives of Ndigbo.
The group noted that communities like Mgbakwu, Igboariam, Umueri, Umunze, Ogbunka, and Amansea are suffering from severe terror. They questioned why the governor seems to be concealing the atrocities committed by these Fulani herdsmen in Igbo land while blaming the victims for the violence.
“It is disgraceful to frame victims as perpetrators, and we demand that this tactic come to an end. We stand united in our demand for truth, accountability, and the protection of our land and our people from all forms of violence and intrusion,” the group affirmed.
