IPOB Leadership Shake-Up: Bayelsa Coordinator and Executives Dissolved in Surprise Notice
The Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB has announced the immediate dissolution of its Bayelsa State coordinator and the entire state executive committee, according to an official notice dated October 27, 2025, and signed by the movement’s Biafra land national coordinator, Mazi Yeje Okarammadu Williams.
The terse statement, issued from IPOB World Headquarters in Germany, declared: “You are hereby notified that Bayelsa state coordinator and his executives are hereby dissolved.” It further warned that “any state coordinator or principal officers of any kind/position dealing with them must stop till further notice.”
The notice directed all IPOB family members in Bayelsa to redirect their activities to Comrade Denven Usman Borogha, pending a national leadership visit for the “official inauguration of the new state leadership.”
While no reason was given for the dissolution, the directive underscores the centralized control maintained by IPOB’s core leadership, even as the movement operates under intense security scrutiny in Nigeria’s South-South region.
IPOB members seeking clarification on the development were instructed to contact the national Public Relations Officer (PRO) or national publicity secretary.
The notice comes amid ongoing tensions between IPOB and Nigerian authorities, with the self-determination movement continuing to push its Biafra agenda despite being proscribed by Nigeria in 2017.
Contact details listed in the document include IPOB’s European headquarters in Langenfeld, Germany, and a UK office in London, alongside office hours for inquiries and appointments.
As expected, neither the dissolved Bayelsa coordinator nor Comrade Borogha had issued public statements on the leadership transition.
