IPOB Germany Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s Purported Dissolution of Directorate of State, Warns of Legal Action

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Germany chapter has strongly rejected claims by suspended IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu that he dissolved the movement’s Directorate of State (DOS) and appointed new leadership, including a fresh National Coordinator for Germany.

In a statement issued on June 18, 2026, and signed by Mazi Collins Chineduh, National Coordinator of IPOB Germany, the chapter described the circulating publication as fraudulent and lacking any legitimate authority. The statement reaffirms the DOS led by Mazi Chika Edoziem as the sole recognized administrative body of the organization.

The Germany executive emphasized three main positions:

1. IPOB as an Institution: The group argued that IPOB is a mass movement and liberation institution, not the personal property of any individual. “No one man, regardless of his standing or title, holds the unilateral right to dissolve the DOS,” the statement read. It maintained that the DOS under Chika Edoziem remains the only legitimate authority.

2. Leadership in Germany Remains Unchanged: Mazi Collins Chineduh continues as the duly appointed National Coordinator. The chapter urged members in Germany to disregard any purported new appointment and to recognize only the existing structure.

3. Legal Warning Under German Law: IPOB Germany, a registered legal entity, warned that impersonating the organization or issuing false directives constitutes fraud. It cited Section 263 of the German Criminal Code (StGB), which punishes deception with up to five years in prison or a substantial fine, and vowed to pursue criminal and civil remedies.

The statement urged calm among members and the diaspora, cautioning against disinformation campaigns aimed at destabilizing the movement. It advised accepting only communications from verified official IPOB channels.

The rebuttal follows a June 17, 2026, announcement attributed to Nnamdi Kanu dissolving the IPOB DOS, led by Chika Edoziem since 2017.

In swift response, the Edoziem-led DOS suspended the offices of “Leader” and “Director of Radio Biafra” positions held by Kanu citing security risks from his prison communications.

The escalating internal rift has sparked confusion and division among IPOB supporters worldwide, with the Germany chapter now publicly aligning with the DOS position.
