IPOB UK Chapter Declares Loyalty to Directorate of State, Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s Purported Dissolution
The United Kingdom branch of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has thrown its weight behind the Directorate of State (DOS) led by Mazi Chikadibia Edoziem, firmly rejecting any attempt by the group’s detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to dissolve the current leadership structure.
In a strongly worded official statement titled “In Solidarity With DOS & Rebuttal of A Purported Dissolution/Replacement,” signed by Chief IkeChukwu Nice Nwokoro, IPOB UK National Coordinator, the chapter declared “unalloyed loyalty” to the existing DOS and dismissed media reports of a replacement leadership as illegitimate.
Key Points from the IPOB UK Statement
The statement explicitly:
1. Reaffirms loyalty to the DOS headed by Mazi Chikadibia Edoziem.
2. Rejects what it describes as a “Sokoto DOS” allegedly made up of non-IPOB members and suspended or expelled individuals facing allegations of misconduct.
3. Warns against “impostors/infiltrators” and states that IPOB UK will not accept any “improperly conscripted/constituted replacement.”
4. Endorses the DOS decision to indefinitely suspend the offices of IPOB Worldwide Leader and Director of Radio Biafra to “restore sanity” and move away from “hero-worshipping/icon-cultism.”
5. Stresses adherence to IPOB’s structure and code of conduct, renouncing any “leadership by proxy/insurrection.”
The letter further reminds supporters that IPOB “is not and will never be Nnamdi Kanu personal estate nor his family business,” urging Nnamdi Kanu to “reflect, repent and retract” for possible reintegration after his release from detention in Nigeria. It calls on Biafrans to remain resolute in the quest for freedom.
The statement was issued from the IPOB UK office at 160 London Road, Barking IG11 8BB, under the signature of Chief IkeChukwu Nice Nwokoro on behalf of the entire UK membership.
