IPOB Ghana Chapter Issues Strong Rebuttal Against Nnamdi Kanu’s Alleged Dissolution of Directorate of State

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Ghana chapter has firmly rejected claims that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu possesses the authority to dissolve the movement’s Directorate of State (DOS), describing any such action as lacking legitimacy.

In an External Memo dated 19th June, 2026, signed by Mazi Uyi Edos, National Coordinator of IPOB Ghana, the chapter issued a “strong rebuttal” to circulating publications about the alleged dissolution of the DOS Administration and the inauguration of a 4th administration by Kanu.

Key Positions in the Memo

The Ghana chapter stated the following:

1 IPOB does not recognize the concept of a “Supreme Leader” within its structure, as it conflicts with Biafran republican values and traditions.

2 No single individual has unilateral authority to dissolve the Directorate of State, which remains the apex administrative organ of the movement.

3 Mazi Nnamdi Kanu therefore lacks the power to single-handedly dissolve the DOS.

4 The chapter recognizes only the existing leadership structure led by Mazi Chikadibia Edoziem (Head of Directorate of State) and the DOS operating under that leadership.

The memo further urged all Biafrans, supporters, media organizations, and the public to rely exclusively on verified official channels:

1. Radio Biafra (IPOB Community Radio) and Biafra Television (BTV).

2. Official memos bearing the recognized emblem of Biafra, signed and sealed by Mazi Chikadibia Edoziem.

3. Official memos signed by the DOS Press Secretary, Dr. C. Okadigbo.

It called for vigilance against unverified publications that could sow confusion and reaffirmed IPOB Ghana’s commitment to “discipline, accountability, and the collective pursuit of the Biafran cause,” ending with the slogan: “The DOS leads, Biafrans follow.”

The statement comes amid a deepening leadership crisis within IPOB. On or around 17 June 2026, Kanu currently prison announced the dissolution of the DOS Administration (led by Edoziem) and the inauguration of a 4th administration headed by US-based Mazi Chris Nwaogu. A non IPOB members and associate of Orji Uzor Kalu political associate.

In response, the Edoziem-led DOS reportedly held a meeting and took counter-measures, including the indefinite suspension of Kanu from the offices of Leader of IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra. Several diaspora chapters, including those in Ghana and Germany, have aligned with the Edoziem led IPOB.

IPOB Ghana’s position adds to the growing endorsement within the global IPOB family.
