IPOB cautions public against unau thorized protests in Biafraland

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned Biafrans and the general public to stay away from any protest being circulated or organised in its name, saying it has not authorised any such action.

In a public caution memorandum dated 12 September 2026, IPOB said no protest has been approved or called by the Directorate of State (DOS) under Mazi Chikadibia Edoziem. All Biafrans, and IPOB members in particular, were told to disregard any mobilisation announced without the express authorisation of that leadership.

The statement was signed by Mazi Expensive, IPOB Biafraland National Publicity Secretary.

IPOB said it has reason to believe that certain provocateurs and hostile elements of what it described as “Sokoto caliphate extraction” may be trying to lure people into situations that could expose them to arrest, violence or other serious consequences. It urged the public not to allow themselves to be used as instruments of provocation or placed in avoidable danger.

The group said it has lost enough lives over the years and that, in the present period, “avoidable deaths must stop. Enough is enough.” It added that no political objective or personal agenda is worth exposing fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters or children to unnecessary danger.

Parents and guardians were particularly asked to caution their children and wards against joining any unauthorised protest or gathering conducted in the name of IPOB.

IPOB also sought to draw a clear line of responsibility. It said it does not want a situation in which people who voluntarily join unauthorised protests are later arrested, detained, reported missing or otherwise endangered, after which the organisation is accused of remaining silent or failing to intervene.

“The IPOB Directorate of State has not authorised or organised any protest or gathering, and cannot accept responsibility for activities undertaken independently and without its approval,” the memorandum stated.

Every Biafran was strongly warned to avoid unauthorised mobilisation and to protect their lives from avoidable danger. The statement concluded that the safety and preservation of the people remain paramount.
